25 May 2022If the future was the same as the past, nothing would ever change. We know this; we know that 2022 is not the same as 2021 or 2012.
Yet, when you’re anxious about the future based on what you’ve done or not done previously, your mind is copying the past and pasting it directly on to the future.
We hardly even notice they are doing this. Our copy and paste version of the past is often much worse than what actually happened, just because our minds tend to remember scary things more vividly.
This creates fear, fear of something that is in the past.
This is kind of strange … to fear the past.
