What If, Just What If, You’re Alright Just As You Are?
4 June 2022First Rule Of Lifesaving is to Make Sure You Don’t Die
6 June 2022Here’s a short tale about procrastination – the creative’s nemesis.
We’ve told ourselves a million time to start earlier, to work harder, to be more organised, but over and over again, we find ourselves in the same situation
We need a fresh look at things. Nagging will never work. Do you respond to being nagged by people? Of course not, so you won’t respond to being nagged by yourself either.
Instead of thinking in terms of MUST, you can think in terms of lightness vs. heaviness. Long before the deadline you can pick up a task that is part of your project, and it will be light, easy and more likely to flow.
Just think of a project, see your tasks and pick one to do now, picture it as effortless and easy. Picture it as a sack full of polystyrene – surprisingly light. See the satisfaction that comes with the task.
Try it out and see how this metaphor works for you.
The inspiration for this idea came from Jon Connelly, PHD, MSW, LCSW. The use of metaphors is central to his teaching and it works. We love stories, we remember them and they communicate with deeper parts of mind, where the transformation happens.
